Chiropractic

Musculoskeletal/Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The musculoskeletal system includes the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves. Chiropractors use a variety of techniques, including spinal manipulation/mobilization, Diversified Techniques, and Sacro-Occipital Technique, to help their patients improve their range of motion, reduce pain, and improve overall function.

Chiropractors believe that the musculoskeletal system is interconnected and that problems in one area of the body can lead to problems in other areas. For example, a misalignment in the spine can refer pain to other parts of the body, such as the neck, shoulders, arms, or legs. Chiropractors use their hands to adjust the spine and other joints in order to correct misalignments and improve nerve function.

Chiropractic care is often used to treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle spasms
  • Sciatica
  • Vertigo
  • Asthma
  • Ear infections
  • Infant colic

Chiropractic care can also be used to help improve range of motion, flexibility, and posture.

Chiropractic treatment typically involves a series of adjustments over time. The number of adjustments needed will vary depending on the severity of the patient’s condition and their response to treatment. Most patients experience relief from their symptoms within a few weeks of starting chiropractic care.

Chiropractic care is generally considered to be a safe and effective treatment for a variety of conditions. However, it is important to note that chiropractic care is not right for everyone. People with certain medical conditions, such as osteoporosis, spinal instability, or rheumatoid arthritis, should not have chiropractic care without first talking to their doctor. Additionally, pregnant women and people with a history of stroke should not have chiropractic care without first talking to their doctor.

If you are considering chiropractic care, be sure to talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits.
